The list of Filipino food options in Langley has been slowly growing over the years and is reflective of the increasing Filipino population that have also chosen the Langley / Fraser Valley region as their home (including myself).
If you don’t know anything about Filipino cuisine, it is both a blend and bits and pieces of several cultures and are all part of Philippine history. Our food is heavily influenced by the Spanish, Chinese, American, and Southeast Asian cooking and the method of cooking is dependent on the region in the Philippines.
Think lots of variations with noodles but also we love our meats in soy broth, tomato, and peanut sauces. We also enjoy our meat grilled and fried, our seafood raw and dried especially for day-to-day meals. During parties people get excited when there’s a whole-roasted pig or calf in the middle of the buffet table. But above all, the most basic thing is that Filipinos love rice – white, sticky and hot and we normally eat it three times a day and is just so comforting.
